Phanaeus (Phanaeus) prasinus lugens
Biology:
Flies no greater than 50cm above the ground in a slow zig-zag flight.
Habitat: 350-1800m. Primary Forest and secondary Forest. These habitats provide the shade this species likes. Although prasinus prefers abiertas areas it will use other habitats but at a lower concentration.
Size: 16-23mm
Active Period: April-June. 0900h-1905h, but with a peak between 1000h-1100h. Rapidly declining from 1800h. Activity directly linked to rainfall
